The first steps to planning your new bathroom

The first steps to planning your new bathroom

Thinking about a new bathroom? It’s an exciting project, but to get it right, you need to start with some careful planning. At Henlow Building Supplies, we know that the initial design stages are crucial. By providing our designers with a little information, you can save a lot of time and money down the road and ensure a stunning, functional space.

Before you start picking out tiles and taps, grab a tape measure and a piece of paper. The first thing we need is a rough sketch of your room. Don't worry about being an artist; a simple drawing with measurements will do the trick. Mark the location of all doors and windows, noting their size and distance from the walls. This helps us visualize the space and figure out the best layout for your new suite.

Next, consider the plumbing. One of the most important pieces of information is the location of the soil stack pipe. This is the main drain for your toilet and is a fixed point that significantly impacts where your new WC can be placed. Knowing its position helps us design a layout that works with your existing plumbing, which can help keep installation costs down.

We also need to know what floor the bathroom is on. Is it on the ground floor with a concrete base or a first floor with floor joists? This makes a big difference in what kind of showers, units and baths can be used.

If you are handy with a tape or you have an installer that can check your measurements a plan of the room in millimeters (mm) is ideal. This level of precision allows our designers to create an accurate plan using CAD and ensure everything fits perfectly, from your new vanity to your walk-in shower.

By providing this information, you’re giving us the tools to create a bathroom that is not only beautiful but also practical and efficient to install. Ready to get started? Visit us at Henlow Building Supplies to talk to a member of our design team today!
